It has taken a long time to get this far, and with it, it's been a difficult process but finally, the book is here! The official release date is the 29th of August. Though I am working that day, as I always am, I cannot have a book launch, but I can have a relaxing day on the Friday.

Hello everyone! Once again I'm back, ending the week with a fantastic story from Wattpad! Not only that, you can purchase this brilliant and unique story!

The link to Michael's Wattpad account is here

To be directed to his story, please go here

And to go and have a look at his website, please go here

So, what is KURO all about?

In a land covered in eternal night, a young girl is all that stands between Mankind and the Forces of Darkness.

What would a world without the Sun be like?

"When the Sun Goddess, Amaterasu-ōmikami, vanished under mysterious circumstances a thousand years ago, she left the land of Kuro blanketed in eternal night. Over time, the people of Kuro have learned to harness what remains of Amaterasu’s power: the precious and finite resource known as the Goddess Essence. Kurokyuu Orbs, miracles of modern technology, harvest the Goddess Essence and provide light and power to all. But there is a problem: the Goddess Essence is running out. And it couldn't have come at a worse time.

Whispers abound of a growing evil in the North; stories of shadows that can only be harmed by the light of the sun. From out of the darkness rises Taiyou-Shi, City of the Sun. Light Spires shine through all twenty-four of Taiyou-Shi's hours, providing artificial sunlight for all. Everyone that is, but the residents of the Utter Darkness.

In this forsaken place, Mina, a young orphan, is forced to beg and steal on the streets to sustain herself in the hardscrabble way of life.

In the darkest corners, Marauders lurk, hunting little girls, searching for the one known only as “The Maiden”.

When Mina falls captive to a roving band of Marauders, she is faced with a life-altering decision: reveal the secret she has been hiding her entire life or stay silent and risk losing her already meager existence?

When people die as a result of her inaction, Mina realizes her secret is no longer hers to keep. A secret that lies in a most unusual ability: The power to manifest sunlight..."

Such an intriguing story! Thank you for sharing Michael!

Let's take a sneaky peek at the cover below!

I asked Michael a few questions about himself. Let's see what he had to say!

Name/Wattpad username/Pen name: MichaelLimjoco (incidentally, also my real name).

Country of Origin: United States

Place(s) of inspiration: Countries of Asia (Japan, China, The Philippines, and Korea).

Current finished work(s): Kuro is my first novel

Genre and why you like writing in this genre: Science Fiction/Fantasy. It's a bit of a release writing in this genre for me. Also, I feel I have far more freedom because I'm not bound by any laws (physics, world, etc). I enjoy building worlds.

Published works of inspiration: Game of Thrones, Dune, Lord of the Rings, early Anne Rice novels (her florid writing style was a big inspiration), Weiss and Hickman's Dragonlance Chronicles.

Editing process: Professionally edited by Dr. Debra Doyle (published author). Professionally illustrated by Nuriko-kun.

Reaction of friends and family who have read your works: To be honest, only my brother has read my work! He loves it, but is totally biased! My wife hasn't even gotten past chapter 2. But Kuro has been read on WP and Critique Boards (for the last year or so), and has received some good response. Anything planned for the future with your writing: Kuro is a planned trilogy, so I am working on Book 2 at the moment.

Well there you have it folks! Thanks to Michael for his time answering my questions and I wish him all the best for the future!

FREE Wattpad Promotions! The Daredevil Who Claims To Be My Boyfriend

Posted by A.E Kirk on July 19, 2013 at 6:30 AM Comments comments (0)

This week I am promoting MySilverDust from Wattpad!

The link to their profile page on Wattpad is here

And the link, which takes to direct to their free story, is here!

Okay, so, who is MySilverDust? I asked a few questions and these are the awesome answers I got!

Name or pen-name: Ny Chan/ MySilverDust/ MySilverDust

Country of Origin: Philippines

Place of inspiration: Either at the roof of the house or on my bed and on Watty.

Current Finished work: The Daredevil Who Claims to be My Boyfriend. It's actually a beginner's luck ;)

Genre and why you like writing this genre: Romance. Well, I never really thought I would like romance that much. When I started reading famous romance stories in wattpad it brought me to my desire to make my own. First, I wasn't that serious in writing, but when people started to enjoy my work I decided to take it seriously.

Published Works of Inspiration: Stephanie Meyer & Andrew Clements

Editing Process: When it comes it to editing, it's a pretty hard work for me. Before posting I edit it and then I'll hunt down some people to critique my job so that I'll know if I did a good job or not. If they spot a flaw I'll take note of it and fix it as soon as possible, but if I'm busy I depend on my hired editor.

Reactions: My friends were surprised, because English isn't our mother tongue, and they said their nose was bleeding while reading my work. But same as my mom and sister they are all happy and proud for me.

Thank you to MySilverDust! I wish you well for your story!

Reaction of friends and family who have read your works: well, they said it was good but some has errors on it :)

Anything planned for the future with your writing: I really wanted to make a story that has me, potentially writing... I plan to be an author someday but I think I'll start off with writing stories from then and now

Lores of Lyra

Posted by A.E Kirk on June 19, 2013 at 3:35 PM Comments comments (0)

Hello and welcome to my FREE Promotions Months! During July and August, I shall be promoting Wattpad members who have completed books!

 Let's kick off with Maja.

Maja is from Denmark and is a remarkable writer. Though English is not her mother tongue, she writes in English and has created fabulous books for those of you who love romance or fantasy.

To see her list of novels, click here, or to go straight to her promoted book, Lores of Lyra, Rising Star (Book 1) click here.

So, what is the book about? Maja, gives us the summary for us:

The Blurb: [Winner of "Fantasy - On The Rise" in Watty Awards 2012]

Stars. For millennia, humans have stared up at the sky watching them light up the night sky. Unknown to most, they've been watching back, protecting us and keeping us safe from dangers. However, in the land of Astron, two girls are struggling to keep themselves alive.

Miriam has a dark secret, living a secluded life with all the benefits that wealth provides. While Annabell is a poor orphan with a natural born gift of getting in trouble.

With the help of two handsome lads, they have to uncover the truth about the prophecy that the Elders have worked so hard to hide — which isn't easy when none of the girls knows of the others existence. Change is coming, and Darkness is growing.

In a race against time, they have to find the Rising Star before it's too late.

Solem, help us all.

Below are a few things about Maja and her writing

Name/Wattpad username/Pen name:

Maja D Jørgensen, xxmajaine

Country of Origin:

Place of inspiration:

Inside my head. XD

Current finished work(s):

The Lores of Lyra - Rising Star

The Lores of Lyra - Shattered Star

Genre and why you like writing in this genre:

Fantasy, adventure, paranormal and spiritual.

The main genre would be fantasy, and I like writing it because it gives me a chance to create new worlds anf nee Species. I can make my own rules.

Published works of inspiration:

There's too many that I like, and I can't remember which gave me inspiration around the time I wrote it. I was mostly inspired by wattpad writers and how beautifully they wrote tales of places I'd never visit.

Editing process:

Even though I've spent much time on the books, I still consider them both to be first drafts. I have a long way to go before I'm ready to call it finished.

Reaction of friends and family who have read your works:

Most people compliment the originality in the story. Stars aren't that widely used apparently.

Anything planned for the future with your writing:

I'd like to publish one day. But for now the primary focus of me is simply to write and have fun with it.

Thank you Maja for your dedication. I wish you luck with your book! :)

New beginnings!

So I am now back in the UK. Not sure if that's a good thing or not...

A few things, Tattoo is going through it's process, I thank Frances constantly for her help.

Loving In Time is also nearly finished, just got the cover to go through and also editing the second proofs slowly and then it's off to the printers! Still not sure of a date yet, because of the cover, but I am hoping it's soon-ish. So many delays because of me being in Korea, but I'm back now so it should be quicker.

Also, Kingdom of Fantasy's first issue is now out! Available on Apple and Kindle Fire for download. :)

I hope everyone had a great Easter! Shame about the cold (if you are in the UK) I tried to bring some sunshine back with me from Thailand and it's sort of worked, but there's a great lack of warmth... fingers crossed for a nice summer :)

New Year New Job New Travelling!

Posted by A.E Kirk on February 7, 2013 at 2:00 AM Comments comments (0)

Well it is coming to that time when my contract is up at the end of February for South Korea.
January has been a blast! I had two camps with my students and I cried when they gave me a wonderful send off of presents and a song. I even made a student, Molly, cry. So sad :( but we have some great and interesting memories to take away from each other.

My literary agent has asked me to re-edit Tattoo and I am giving her the manuscript in March. I finally managed to acquire the 2nd proofs of LIT, Loving In Time, which I can't really do anything about until I get back into the UK.

Also I have a new job. I am freelancing as copy-editor for a fantasy magazine, Kingdom of Fantasy. So it should be very rewarding and interesting, to say the least.

Travelling... well that is something that's purely awesome! For a week I was in Vietnam, travelling around Ha Long Bay. Ha Long Bay features in Tattoo of the Black Angel, so it was pure awesome to go to the place that I had written about in my book. The same with Norway in 2010, which I wrote about in Mark of the Water Nymph and this year in May, I am heading to Switzerland to see Hadriana's Castle :) and I've also been to Glastonbury Tor the entrance to Avalon. Well travelled and I like going to the places which I had written about.

Below is a picture of Ha Long Bay. It was amazing. I hope everyone had a good start to the New Year!
